The deadline for submitting preliminary applications is Friday, March 7, 2012.

The U.S. Embassy in Abidjan is pleased to announce the competition for the Fulbright Programs:  African Research Scholars (ARS), Junior Staff Development (JSDP) and Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship (HHH) for the 2013-2014 academic year.

• African Research Scholars – ARS

Information Session at the U.S. Embassy: Tuesday, February 28 at 14:00

The ARS program gives Ivorian researchers the opportunity to pursue post-doctoral or program development research at American educational institutions and laboratories and to establish contacts with their American peers.  The program lasts three to nine months.  Although a TOEFL score is not required, candidates must have good English language skills to compete.  The competition is open to all disciplines, but priority is given to those in the humanities, economics, law, science, and medicine.  Researchers working on AIDS-related projects are also given priority, regardless of the discipline. Candidates must be Ivoirian citizens; have a minimum of three years experience as a professor or researcher and have published articles or books in their field. Candidates’ research in the U.S. must also directly link to their teaching and/or research responsibilities in Cote d’Ivoire.

• Junior Staff Development – JSD

Information Session at the U.S. Embassy: Wednesday, February 29 at 14:00

This JSD program, which lasts for two years, targets young professionals and graduate students who wish to earn a master degree (Doctorat de 3ème cycle) or a Ph.D. (Doctorat d’Etat) in the United States.  Candidates must be Ivorian citizens with an outstanding academic record and a high level of English proficiency (a minimum TOEFL score of 580 and a minimum GRE/GMAT score of 1000). They must hold at least a D.E.A. or equivalent; be well prepared to study for an advanced degree in their current field or a related field; be committed to working in Cote d’Ivoire upon completion of their U.S. studies and have the endorsement of their home institution. Preference is given to candidates who have not studied in the U.S.

• Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship – HHH

Information Session at the U.S. Embassy: Thursday, March 1st at 14:00

The HHH program provides 10 months of professional enrichment and non-degree graduate-level study in the U.S. for accomplished mid-level Ivorian professionals in various fields. Fellows are nominated based on a demonstrated commitment to public service; leadership ability, and a strong desire to effect change in their workplace and community. Candidates must have goals and qualifications, but also the ability to operate in an unstructured environment and benefit from a Humphrey Fellowship. Candidates must be Ivoirian citizens; have an undergraduate university degree (Licence); a minimum of five years of substantial professional experience; demonstrated leadership qualities, a record of public service in the community, and strong English language skills.
