Free e-learning on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

Free e-learning on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

March 1 to 31, 2009

Sunday, March 8 marks the International Women’s Day. To celebrate this occasion, WBI (the World Bank Institute) and IFC (a member of the World Bank Group) are joining forces to deliver e-learning on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to businesswomen associations and their members globally.

The objective of the free learning event is to build capacity relating to corporate social responsibility among women in business as a tool to make organizations more competitive, to create new opportunities for women and to foster the development of multi-sectoral partnerships. This e-Learning course complements a project implemented by IFCs Gender Program and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) to promote Gender and Sustainability Reporting.

The WBI-developed e-Learning course targets those who wish to gain a basic understanding of CSR. Specifically, through case-studies and other collaborative activities, participants will learn about: (1) the key elements of the policy and business environment that support CSR; and (2) the key concepts of CSR and competitiveness. The total length of the course is approximately 6 to 7 hours. The course will be delivered in English. Participants will be presented with a certificate upon successful completion of the course.

The course offering is free of charge. Closing date for accepting registration applications is February 19, 2009
