Malaysia: Foreign Students’ Contribution to Public Revenue
The Ministry of Higher Education announced that the higher education sector brought in RM1.5 Bln in 2007, the 50,000 foreign students enrolled in higher education institutions in the country being the main contributors. The government’s target is to reach 100,000 foreign students, mainly attending post-graduate courses, by 2010. Degrees recognition and facilities improvement efforts have begun and applications processes have been shortened from 3 to 6 months to one month.
